Presentation covers diagnostic considerations, anesthetic choices and risks and complications associated with third molar surgery. It also discusses treatment options, including observation, peri-operative care and postoperative follow-up.


Generalist/Specialist Relations

Clear and precise communication is required between generalist and specialist if we are to maximize service to our patients. This presentation addresses written communication, quality radiographs, patient communication and referral recommendations.


Forensic Dentistry: Dental Identification

In addition to the usual information, this presentation covers alternate sources of ante mortem radiographs the use of other than dental radiographs for identification, autopsy findings and assisting law enforcement in criminal investigations.


Narcotic Prescriptions: Are You A Drug Pusher?

Narcotic prescriptions are the largest source of illegal drug use in this country and dentists should minimize enabling addictions. An attempt will be made to include a local pharmacist and law enforcement officer to give a broader view of the problem.

The C-Word: Squamous Cell Carcinoma

This presentation will consist of the etiology, diagnosis and histopathology of squamous cell carcinoma. Slides will challenge the audience to distinguish between squamous cell lesions and benign lesions. Treatment, prognosis, and post operative considerations will be discussed.

Periodontal Plastic Surgery

Periodontal surgery is capable of enhancing the esthetic results of the restorative dentist. Various techniques such as ridge augmentation, root coverage and papillae reconstruction will be presented. This discussion takes place on a macro and micro level periodontal microsurgical concepts will be introduced.

Root Coverage Techniques Using Micro-Surgical Concepts

Current techniques in periodontics allow for coverage of root recession. This course details recent advances in utilizing the surgical microscope to enhance these techniques. Connective tissue grafts, semilunar grafts and other root coverage techniques are covered. Additionally microsurgical concepts are introduced to the practitioner.

The Relationship Between Cervical Whiplash & TMJ Injuries: An MRI Study

Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ) symptoms are a common finding in motor vehicle accident patients. This relationship is documented with magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in 87 consecutive motor vehicle accident cervical whiplash patients who present with TMJ symptoms. High percentage of TMJ abnormalities in the study group illustrates the proximate relationship between cervical whiplash and TMJ injuries.
